New submission from Sonia
When men yell/whistle from their cars and beep their horns or make comments in the street they usually do it when they’re with their mates to flaunt their power. As such I usually ignore them 100% as I hope embarassing them in front of other blokes will make them think twice in future.
Today however I tried a different approach. Three guys in a van ‘generously’ let me cross the road at an orange light and obviously harassment was the price I was going to have pay for that. They wolf whistled, made comments and tooted the horn. To which I responded by extending my middle finger, looking the other way and crossing the road nice and slowly
The tooting stopped immediately. As we were at a junction other motorists and pedestrians would have seen. Very satisfying (though of course not always guaranteed to work)…
