My nose was smashed and my glasses broken. He ran away.

I was out on a walk at about 9pm. I came up to the Dick Vet School in Edinburgh, just at the intersection of the Meadows. A young man, probably about 20, came up to me smiling. I couldn’t help but meet his eye. He then grabbed my breast. I hung on to him, stopping him run away. He struggled but surprisingly my strength held him. My fist was ready to punch him but he had a wider reach and hit me in the face. My nose was smashed and my glasses broken. He ran away. I felt in so much shock that I didn’t report it to the police. Instead I went home and cried my eyes out.

I've got your back!

jesus, thats crazy! I feel so bad for you, that shouldn’t have happened, not to you nor to anyone else! just remember this, the fact that you reacted in that way is very good. he was obviously not expecting you to react and the fact that you showed him that what he did was not ok might hopefully keep him from doing anything similar to someone else in the future!

PLEASE go and report this to the police – they might be able to work to stop him doing it again to someone else. You don’t have to feel embarrassed, you have done nothing wrong, and are the victim in all this. This man should not be allowed to get away with this! Hope you are okay.x

This is horrible for you. Please know that all of us on this website can empathise fully and that you are incredible for getting through this. But PLEASE report this attack – I was assaulted in a similar way some months ago and reported it to the Police – my evidence has brought a guy to justice who attacked 6 other women and some much more violently. He’s now standing trial and will be locked up, so please help do the same. Take care and stay safe xx
