TfL Staff: “I’ll give your bottom a good spanking – girls like you need to be punished.”

New submission from Aces

This happened al month or so back, but I’ve only just discovered your site and so I thought I’d share my story.

I’d hopped onto the Northern Line tube to meet a friend at Kings Cross Station. When going up the escalators to exit, I realised that I had actually lost my oyster card. I was shocked, rummaging through my coat pockets and bag and feeling pretty stressed out as I’d just put a monthly season ticket on it and was feeling quite stressed that I’d lost something of a high value.

Upon approaching the barriers, I thought the most sensible thing to do would be to go to the member of staff at the barriers, explain the situation and hope that they would let me through and help me to begin the process of cancelling and recording a new oyster card.

I stepped over to him, clearly a little shaken and explained my situation.

“Ohhh I see” he said to me with a smirk.
That’s all he said.

so I asked him what I should do.

“Well you’re going to have to go into this room with me.”

-”And I’ll fill out some paper work to get my oyster card back?” I responded.

“No, I’ll put you across the table and give your bottom a good spanking because girls like you need to be punished.” Was his reply.

He then let me out through the gates. In complete shock from what I’d just heard, I went about my regular business in a state of disbelief from what he’d said.

For the rest of the evening I kept thinking that he must have said something else, but what else could I have confused that statement with?

I feel absolutely sickened that at a time when I had lost a possession and gone to a tfl employee for help, they would say such a thing. I am so angry, and would like to know if anybody else has experienced behaviour like this from a member of staff at Kings Cross Station. Then we can all rally together we can take matters further and make a formal complaint.

This person should not be working with members of the public, especially members of the public that need any form of help or assistance.

I’m going to go ahead and make my complaint anyway!

I've got your back!

I’m sorry this happened to you. I’m not sure how it works in the UK, but I agree that you should definitely file a complaint.

Was this an older man? I ask because they tend to make statements full of innuendo, while the younger ones tend to make comments about women’s bodies. I’m really sorry this happened. I hope you get a new oyster card soon.

  2. This guy is a right bellend. Hope he gets the sack. I dread to think what he’d say or do to a vulnerable teenage girl.

Report him, report him! I am gobsmacked by this. I hope he is fired (the unfortunate flip side to that joy, of course, is that we all then get to support him instead – whoopee!)
