PUBLIC HARASSMENT: I WAS WALKING…

I was walking at a brisk pace to the tube station, rounding the corner of Hammersmith Rd across from St. Paul’s at 19:20 on a Tuesday, when a man came up to me from behind, touched my arm and asked “Where are you from?” I whipped my head around to look at him and asked why he was asking. “I think you are sexy” – I was wearing a zipped up long black coat that went down to my calves, sneakers, my hair was tied and I had a face mask on. I never stopped walking and kept looking straight ahead at the 2 women walking a few meters in front of me, hoping to get into the tube and away from this man. “Have you got any plans?” I said my sister was expecting me. He tried to grab my arm but I pulled away and walked even faster while the women slowed down and he let me go. The women turned to look at me and asked if I was ok. I thanked them, they said they heard something and it caught their attention and I explained. We kept talking and walking together to the tube entrance. I was very grateful for their support and that they paid attention. It made me feel much better and safer right away.
